The 2011 ASTD State of the Industry report demonstrates that organizations are leveraging technology more than ever before to deliver training to employees, and learning professionals are managing their training functions with increased efficiency and effectiveness. Published for 15 years, the State of the Industry report details the training investments and practices of hundreds of organizations from a variety of industries. The 2011 report includes data from companies in the ASTD Benchmarking Forum, winning organizations from the ASTD BEST Awards, and a consolidated sample that includes data from organizations participating in ASTD’s Workplace Learning and Performance Scorecard, as well as organizations in ASTD’s Benchmarking Forum and BEST Awards.

Chuck Salvetti is the Director, Chapter Services for the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) in Alexandria, VA. ASTD is the world's largest professional association dedicated to the training and development field. In this role, Chuck oversees and ensures the advancement of the chapters’ functionality and success. Additionally, he leads the chapter services department, which provides support to 125 local chapters and more than 1,000 leaders throughout the United States. Prior to working at ASTD, Chuck was the Student and Young Professional (YP) Programs Manager at the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). During his more than ten years at SHRM, Chuck was responsible for overseeing the student and YP membership programs, student chapter operations, and the College Relations Core Leadership Area. He provided leadership to members at all levels, providing training and tools to build strong college relations programs at the state and local levels. Chuck also provided career guidance, serving as a resource for SHRM student and YP members. He received a B.S. in Professional Writing from La Roche College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a Master of Arts in Film and Video from American University in Washington, D.C. Chuck has served on the Emerging Leaders Advisory Council of the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives (GWSAE) and has volunteered with Greater DC Cares, which provides support to numerous local charitable organizations. He is a Life Member of the National Eagle Scout Association and Sigma Tau Delta, International English Honors Society. In his spare time, he enjoys learning about new technology, reading about world’s fairs, and riding roller coasters. He currently lives in Alexandria, Virginia.
