Kicking Off 2023

As we close out 2022 and I sit here reflecting on the year, there are a few things I'd like to share with you all.

Rest.

Rest used as a verb. A verb indicates (physical or mental) actions, occurrences, and states of being. Rest defined: Cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength. As we kick off 2023, I hope you have taken time to rest.

I have spent the last week and a half not working! Focusing on recovering from illness myself, helping sick kiddos get better, and spending all my time with my family – my amazing husband, my three fantastic kiddos and my in-laws (who live with me). While all of that may not sound like rest to some of you, I assure you… it is for me. My cup overflows with the love…and rest.

The last year for me and my team, has been a year that moved at a rapid pace. My team experienced several swift changes in direction over the year, and everyone rose to each of the challenges placed in front of us. It was awesome! It was also exhausting!

Thankfully, our organization has a shut down between Christmas and New Year’s Day that forces my team to step away. Unfortunately, it does not force them to rest. My hope is each of my team members took the time to focus on the things that are important to them, the things that fill their cup so to speak. I want them to return to the office on January 2nd refreshed, ready to tackle new challenges and kick the year off with renewed energy and strength!!

My hope is my team and I will kick off 2023 with a renewed spirit that will allow us to focus on skill building, growing our relationships, and delivering awesome results!

How can we focus on rest throughout the upcoming year? Take vacations…a week or two, or maybe just a long weekend. Read a book. Go on a camping trip and connect with nature. Visit a big city. Spend time with your family. I don’t know what gives you rest. Maybe Ann Arbor ATD is one of the things that helps to fill your cup throughout the year. I know it fills mine. I love meeting new people and learning new things alongside all of our members.

I hope you each find rest as you start 2023 and throughout the year to come.

I look forward to seeing you at one or all of our events!!

Happy New Year Ann Arbor ATD!
