Cozying Up to New Competencies:

What's New with ASTD's 2013 Model

Join us for a rousing and interactive group discussion on the recent revision of ASTD's Competency Model for workplace learning professionals. Participants will leave the session with a clear understanding of the new and revised components of the 2013 model, and with ideas on how to activate these competencies immediately back in their workplace environments.

Format: Interactive group discussion, facilitated by chapter board officers

Learning Objective: By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Describe changes and updates recently made to ASTD's existing competencies
  • Articulate the new 2013 competencies added to the ASTD model
  • Identify ways they can immediately apply competencies to their workplace function

About the Presenters:

Debb Hibbs | Bio

Debb currently serves as the president of the A2ASTD chapter. As a learning and performance professional, Debb has over 20 years’ experience in diverse industries including designing and delivering training, managing the learning function, coaching, human performance improvement and more. She is a CPLP and volunteers at the national level with chapter leader and CPLP functions. Her volunteer experience with ASTD national includes being on task forces assisting in the development of the new ASTD Competency Model.

Tonya Thomas | Bio

Tonya is an instructional design, performance support and multimedia communications professional, with nearly 20 years' experience in healthcare, information systems, instructional design and training, project management/team facilitation, web, graphic and multimedia design, internal and external marketing, PR and communications, service excellence, leadership development, and non-profit operations management.
